Mike has almost thirty years of professional IT experience, spanning development, architecture, management, and now coaching and training.
Mike started his agile journey in 1999, with eXtreme Programming (XP), and over the last twenty years has helped build, coach and train hundreds of agile teams. A sampling of some of his more recognizable clients includes: Capital One, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, The Globe and Mail, Honda, Loyalty One, M&T Bank, Charles Schwab, Target, Toyota, and the Weather Network.
Mike has long been a community builder. He created the first agile group in Toronto (XP Toronto) and helped that community grow. He also was a founding organizer of Play4Agile North America, which has now been running for many years.
Recognizing that all software is written and maintained by people, Mike continues his formal training in human behaviour, psychology, and applied neuroscience; understanding how people work, both individually and in teams. He writes about that at UnconsciousAgile.com
In addition to consulting, Mike is a popular trainer. He is a Professional Kanban Trainer (PKT) through ProKanban.org and has been a Registered Education Provider (REP) for the Scrum Alliance. He is also teaches a variety of other customized classes for his clients. Lastly, he’s a regular speaker at conferences and user groups around the world.
