Programming with Patterns

Participants are led through a series of challenges and chats that help them develop a good understanding of patterns and learn when to refactor to them. This is an online activiy that participants can take from the comfort of their homes or offices in any corner of the world.

Participants engage in a group discussion, facilitated by an expert in Patterns. Participants must answer challenging questions posed by their instructor. Throughout the discussion, numerous examples of patterns in code and UML are thoroughly examined.

7 days

Participants are given poorly written programs that need to be refactored to use patterns. Automated test code verifies the success of each refactoring and participants can explore the solutions provided by other participants. Each week, we focus on a new challenge and everyone is free to ask the instructor and their fellow participants questions on our email list.

6 months

Graduates of Industrial Logic's intensive class, The Design Patterns Workshop, are eligible to take our Programming with Patterns refresher. The refresher challenges participants to refactor 10 poorly designed programs to use 10 Core design patterns. In addition, the participant may study past dialogues about patterns and try their hand at challenging exercises.
