Learning the basics of a modelling technique is not the same as learning how to use and apply it. Data modeling is particularly complex to learn, because it requires the modeler to gain insights into an organization's nature that do not come easily. For example, an analyst may be expected to come into an organization and immediately understand subtleties about its structure that may have evaded people who have worked there for years.
